Presented By: Nicolas Hall, RN, BSN, CFRN, CEN, EMT, Solheim Enterprises December 2014
The last installment in our series looks at focal adjuncts of transport medicine. Such topics as IO/IV access while enroute, hemostatic dressings, and blood gas interpretation are covered. Blood gas interpretation gives the transport team a better understanding of the current medical issue as well as information to build targeted resuscitation outcomes. Being familiar with these items can help the nurse provide the best care when issues arise during a transport.
- The learner will be able to interpret basic blood gas readings
- The learner will understand how to use the EZ-IO drill system
- The learner will be able to describe obtaining a central temperature
