One of the most challenging jobs that an emergency nurse must perform is triage. This activity is carried out independently and the decisions made in the triage area are literally, at times, life and death decisions. This presentation looks at the triage process. The nine steps of triage are reviewed as well as numerous tips and tricks to help the triage nurse perform his or her role.
- Describe creative solutions to over-crowding in triage being used throughout the world
- Identify common conditions which can be recognized by the sense of smell in triage
