Pathophysiology for Fetal Monitoring Strips

Home » Pathophysiology for Fetal Monitoring Strips

Presented By: Martin November, M.D., MBA, FACOG
September 2009

Focused on the pathophysiology of fetal monitoring strips, this presentation makes the connection between maternal fetal circulation from a physiologic perspective and defines how it relates to fetal monitoring tracing. This connection is what is often missing from fetal assessments and can inhibit a labor and delivery team from appropriately managing and responding to their patients.

This presentation discusses how a tracing relates to fetal well-being and identifies the physiologic changes that would cause a change in the fetal tracing, including variable decelerations, prolonged decelerations, bradycardia and tachycardia. The webinar demonstrates these presentations through exploration and discussion of strip examples.
