Who is STAN: Using ST Analysis In Fetal Evaluation

Home » Who is STAN: Using ST Analysis In Fetal Evaluation

Presented By: Lisa Miller, CNM, J.D.
October 2012

Join us along with speaker Lisa Miller to learn about the latest adjunct to electronic fetal monitoring (EFM), ST analysis (STAN) of the fetal heart rate. Currently undergoing a multicenter National Institute for Health, MFMU trial, ST analysis is based on fetal acid-base physiology and may help clinicians in decision-making when faced with complicated fetal heart rate tracings. Principles behind ST analysis as well as an actual STAN case are also discussed.

Objectives:

  • Identify patient selection criteria for STAN monitoring
  • Describe the principles of fetal acid-base physiology that make ST analysis viable
  • Discuss the implications of the STAN NIH trial for clinical practice
