Obstetrical hemorrhage is one of the top three causes of maternal mortality; 140,000 women die of postpartum hemorrhage each year worldwide. Delay in treatment of life threatening maternal hemorrhage can be influenced by a variety of factors such as inaccurate blood loss estimation, misassumptions that the patient status will improve, ineffective intervention and/or delay in team response.
This presentation defines and describes the risk factors and causes of obstetrical hemorrhage, provides practical tools to accurately estimate blood loss and introduces a structured medical management program that will lead your team to success.
