Senior Director, Risk Management and Patient Safety

Mr. Stewart joined BETA in 2016 with experience as a risk manager and patient safety practitioner in hospital, ambulatory, and regional system settings. He leads the rapid adverse event response and analysis domain of BETA HEART® and directs BETA’s employment practices liability (EPL) risk management program. Mr. Stewart has a clinical background in emergency nursing and holds master’s degrees in nursing/health policy from the University of California at San Francisco and in human factors and system safety from Lund University in Sweden. He received his law degree and certificate in health law from the University of Tulsa, and a graduate certificate in clinical bioethics from Loyola University Chicago. He is a past president of the American Association of Nurse Attorneys and former director of the California Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
