Team training, including TeamSTEPPS and in situ simulation, is an effective means to enhance team performance, improve patient and staff safety, and optimize outcomes. Best practices and implementation strategies demonstrating the value of in situ methodology, the integration of TeamSTEPPS with in situ simulation, process improvement opportunities, and risk reduction strategies will be discussed by a team with considerable experience.

Objectives:

  • Identify concepts of in situ simulation and AHRQ�s TeamSTEPPS program that promote teamwork and patient safety
  • Articulate strategies to support successful implementation and sustainment of an integrated team training program
  • Describe the value of team training in decreasing risk and influencing outcomes
