BETA Healthcare Group is pleased to introduce the Cognitive Approach to Improving Clinical Decision-Making Webinar Series presented by Pat Croskerry, M.D., Ph.D.
Join us for an insightful three-part webinar series that delves into one of the most pressing challenges in clinical healthcare: diagnostic failure. Led by an expert in medical decision-making, this series will explore the complexities of diagnostic cognition, the systemic factors influencing errors, and the strategies needed to enhance patient safety.
Over the course of these sessions, you’ll learn how cognitive biases, team dynamics, and technological systems contribute to decision failures in medicine—and what steps can be taken to improve diagnostic accuracy. This series will support participants in critically assessing diagnostic processes and applying evidence-based strategies that drive better clinical outcomes.
At the conclusion of the series, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the prevalence and impact of diagnostic failures in medicine.
- Explain how cognitive processes — including heuristics and biases — affect clinical decision-making.
- Identify work system factors that shape diagnostic performance.
- Describe strategies for improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing errors in clinical settings.
Dr. Pat Croskerry is a leader in raising awareness of cognitive biases and their impact on thinking and clinical decision-making in medicine. Professor of Medicine at the Dalhousie University School of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. Croskerry is a world-renowned diagnostician who spent many years on the frontlines of emergency medicine, where, as head of an emergency department, he noticed that very competent physicians were making medical errors. His teaching and work focus on recognizing cognitive biases, and he has developed specific strategies to combat each cognitive bias to reduce diagnostic error in medicine.
Don’t miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights into the challenges and solutions surrounding diagnostic failures in healthcare!
All three webinar sessions are held from 12:00pm - 1:00pm PT.
